I hope you are having a lovely kick-off to your weekend and are planning on getting a little time outside today, it is beautiful!
I thought it might be kind of fun, seeing as I have about a million weddings to attend this summer, if I walked you through a little bit of what picking out my wedding guest attire looks like for me.
I have very recently become VERY aware of the world of fast fashion and how much I hate what they are doing, thanks to my girl Andrea over at The Purposeful Closet. Prior to now, I often would say that for a new occasion like this, I would just go out and buy a new dress to show off but I am still learning the ins and outs of the world of ethically made fashion, so I am not going to be doing that this time around and just going with a few of the brands that I have discovered in my searches that are all fighting the evils of fast fashion while still creating beautiful products.
Now I will say, ethically made products are a bit expensive, comparatively but that’s just because you’re paying for someone, a real human being, not a child (who is being paid well for their hard work), which honestly, if you ask me, that is well worth the price tag.
Each of these dresses below will be linked 🙂 just click on the caption on the picture and it should take you to the site where I found them! Here are some options of cute, ethically made dresses that I would totally wear to a summer wedding:
I have noticed that casual is more of the trend these days, the last few weddings that I have attended, no one has been in jeans but we weren’t very far above that line and I sort of love that! Here are a few dresses that I would wear to a casual wedding like that.
This is probably the most common trend that you will see advertised on a wedding invitation, semi-formal is what you probably think of when you think of purchasing a dress for a wedding. Patterns are perfectly fine to wear and dresses can be any length, as long as it isn’t TOO short (i.e. you’re worried about showing your butt if you bend over).
This type of wedding is a little less common but every now and then you’ll have some really fun and slightly bougie (LOVE IT) friends that will be getting married so you’ll have the joy of being able to pull these pretty pieces from your closet!
Also! The picture wouldn’t download for this one…but I think this is a great one for a formal wedding as well! IMBY Camden Dress
Black Tie Wedding
Black tie weddings are not all that common but in case you are ever invited to one, here are a few fun options for you. Obviously you can wear other colors to a black-tie wedding other than black but I just think that these are a great showcase of the style and length to be looking for when shopping for one.
Again, the picture wouldn’t download for me here but I love this dress for a more fancy occassion: Siizu Volla Dress
There you are sweet friends! I hope that this guide helped you a little bit in deciding what kind of ethical dresses to look for, for all your summertime nuptials ahead!
