Hi lovelies!
Welcome to the first of many holiday posts on the blog this month.
I wanted to kick off the excitement of Christmas this year by doing a tag, more specifically, The Enthusiast’s Christmas Tag! I found this tag a little earlier this year and I thought it would be SO MUCH FUN to write up my responses for y’all on here once Christmastime finally made it’s way around….and since we’re finally here, let’s get to it!
1. What is your favorite Christmas film?
This is a really tough one for me…I’m going to go with Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas–the Jim Carrey version of course!
I look forward to watching this every single year…and try to practice self-control the rest of the year by only watching it around Christmas…it’s so hard….
Some honorable mentions though include The Holiday, It’s a Wonderful Life, Love, Actually, and Elf.
2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes! I’ve had quite a few when I lived back in Chicago. There really is nothing like it. It’s quite different living in TN now though, last year it was 75 degrees and sunny on Christmas Day haha. I think I would prefer the former option just for how extra special snow makes the day feel.
3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
At home with my family! Currently, as mentioned in the last answer, that’s in Tennessee.
4. What is your favorite Christmas song?
All I Want For Christmas is You–Mariah Carey. Hands down. (What’s with me and my love for the Carey/Carrey’s?!)
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
We do! We all open up one gift, a new pair of PJ’s, on Christmas Eve before we eat dinner and watch It’s a Wonderful Life and Elf!
6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Ooooh I think I’ve got this one.
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner & Blitzen. And Rudolph of course!
7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
All of them haha. Seriously. Everything about this time of year feels special so I look forward to it all!
I think my favorite tradition we have is giving PJ’s on Christmas Eve, since we’ve done it for so long, so I always look forward to that part of our celebration!
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. It’s just easier for us.
Someday when I get my own house, I think I’d like to at least try getting a real tree, just to say I did it once and decide from there which option suits me better!
9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?
On Christmas morning (and New Years Day) we make some dairy-free & nut-free cinnamon rolls that are TO. DIE. FOR.
10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Giving x1000!
Receiving gifts is the lowest on my ranking of my personal love languages. There is SO much excitement in it for me to give a gift that I just know someone is going to love. I have a gift for my boyfriend that feels like that this year and I am just itching in anticipation to give it to him!! Knowing me, I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it until Christmas to give it to him because I’m so excited haha.
11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
When I was about 10 or 11, my parents surprised us with the news that we were getting a puppy! I had been saving up everything I had for the few months prior to December and I think when my parents saw that I was actually serious about getting one, they decided it’d be a good thing to do that for Christmas. I was so surprised! It was the best.
12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I would love to visit New York around Christmas. It just looks so dreamy and snowy and to be a part of the hustle and bustle that is already going on in that city PLUS with the holiday chaos….I strangely think I would love it.
13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
My mother is a pro. I’d say I’m a pro-hopeful or an almost-pro. Somewhere in that mid-range for sure.
14. Most memorable holiday moment?
Probably a few years ago when my sister gifted me with “The 12 Avocados of Christmas.” It was the funniest gift and I loved it! She literally packed up an ornament box full of avocados and gave that as her first gift to me. My whole family sat there and belly laughed for a good chunk of time about that one. It really is the sweetest/funniest memory.
15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?
I actually never believed in Santa growing up haha. So, that means I also never had a heartbreaking discovery that he wasn’t real.
16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Yes! I never really used to…but I have definitely been trying to make them (and stick to them) in the past few years. Check back on the blog here in a few weeks because I’ll be sharing a few of my new resolutions for 2018 soon!
17. What makes the holidays special for you?
So many things! I think the biggest one is that it’s just the best reminder for me (and I think many around me) that our world is still a good place. We may fight the entire rest of the year but there is so much unity and love and thanksgiving taking place this time of year…and how can that not feel magical?
Alright friends, it’s your turn!
I’m not going to tag a bunch of people to keep this tag going but I would still LOVE to hear your answers to these questions! So if you’ve got some time, write up your answers, I’d love to hear from you–as I’m sure Morgan at The Enthusiast would, too; knowing her tag is still going strong 5 (almost 6!) years later!
XOXO
