It’s finally time for another Next Stop post on the blog! It’s been a minute since I did one of these (almost a whole year AH…that’s what I get for never leaving my home lol…but really. I haven’t gone anywhere but around Nashville since like last June haha.)
This past weekend my boyfriend, his family and I all made the 3ish hour long trek over to Knoxville for the wedding of one of their family friend’s sons. So, today I wanted to chat you all through a little bit of what we did, where we went, what we ate, etc. during the day and a half-ish that we were there. A little 32-hour travel guide, if you will!
We piled into the car and began the journey to Knoxville!
With the time change, we made it to our hotel destination around 1, we weren’t able to check into the hotel until 3, so we decided to go grab some lunch until that time. Curtis’s sister and brother-in-law actually made it to the hotel within about 5 minutes of us, so they came along for lunch, too! Lunch today was a quick, yummy stop to McAlister’s Deli.
After lunch, we came back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. Once we were all changed and ready to go we headed into Knoxville! We were staying about 20 minutes outside of the actual Knoxville city central, so we left for the wedding around 4, to ensure we would end up making it into the city in decent time.
For post-wedding hangs we wound up down by the Tennessee river for a nice little evening walk. We then drove into the Market Square area and grabbed a pizza (and me some hummus and veggies) from Tomato Head for dinner. A few of us also grabbed some coffee from Coffee and Chocolate (SUCH a tiny and cute coffee shop just off the square!) because we were all pretty sleepy at this point in the day. We then headed back to the hotel to change and eat. His family decided to go hang with the parents of the son who had just gotten married, while I stayed in the hotel to rest a little.
11:00 PM-9:00 AM
This morning I was up later than usual, I got up around 8, laid in bed for a little while and read! Such a fun, relaxing morning. Curtis was also up so we headed downstairs in our PJ’s and ate a little hotel breakfast; his whole family eventually joined us for an additional half hour or so of chatting in the lobby. We then needed to check out by 11, so we all went upstairs to change and pack up the little that we brought with us; during this portion of the morning we obviously watched part of Mulan on TV. DUH.
11:00 AM-4:00 PM
Once we checked out of our hotel we still had a few hours before we needed to be back in Nashville so we decided to explore a little more. We started out going to the Ijams Nature Center and taking a quick hike around that area. We then came back and looked at all the animals they have in their habitats and even got to see a snake they had brought out! I say that like it was cool haha I hate snakes so I didn’t stay around for very long with that thing out of it’s cage.
We then decided to head back to the Market Square area for some lunch and a leisurely stroll through the streets before we headed out. We ate lunch at Soccer Taco, a place that someone had actually recommended to me and y’all it did not disappoint! Curtis and I shared vegetarian fajitas and they were delectable! To finish out the day, we took a walk from Market Square over to World’s Fair Park and went up the little sphere outlook they have in the middle of the park! I don’t really love heights haha (is there anything I’m not afraid of???) but it was really cool to see the entire surrounding area of Knoxville from so high up! We then walked to get a final cup of coffee from Market House Cafe as we headed out of town.
Left to come home to celebrate mom’s day with my mom!!
Here are a few fun snapshots from my weekend (aka just the wedding lol) in Knoxville:
Alright pals, that’s it for me today. I hope you have a beautiful rest of your Tuesday and I promise I’ll try to leave Nashville a little more often because writing these kinds of posts are always so much fun for me!
