Hi lovelies!
Now that the weather has warmed up just about everywhere across the country it seems like, I thought it might be fun to compile a little list of cheap date activities for you and your boo thang to partake in this summer! I did a similar post back in the fall last year (once pumpkin spice latte season is back, you’ll be covered!) but that was before Curtis and I started compiling our own list of things we’d like to do when we go on a date…which all of the ideas below are ones we’ve thought about doing ourselves during the warmer months this year; not just ones I came across online and was like, “oh that’s festive! Let’s add that one to the list!” (but also we’re pretty poor so we’re keeping all these ideas under or around $20 😉 Just because you aren’t rolling in money doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun every week!)
-
Ice Cream Date — Cost: $3-4/person.
Is there a better summertime date out there? If so, please enlighten me. PS for those of you who are vegan/allergy sufferers like myself and live in the Nashville area, make sure you check out Koko’s Ice Cream‘s shop over in East Nashville…coconut ice cream and free of anything that could potentially send you to the ER! What a lovely concept!
-
A Baseball Game — Cost: $15/person.
So yes, this is technically over the price range…but only $15 for each person so I figured I would still include it…if you’re sticking hard-fast to the budget, though, buy your S/O’s ticket and they can buy yours OR just go to your brother’s little league game the next time you can…fo free!
-
Drive-In Movie — Cost: $8/person
Hide your favorite candy, popcorn, and some water bottles in your purse or backpack and you’re all set to spend the evening snuggling up with your boo thang in front of the big screen.
-
Active/Outdoor Date — Cost: Free!
A few of my favorites include hiking and playing a couple games of tennis.
-
Mini Golfing — Average Cost: $5/person.
Grab a couple of friends and make this a little double-date. Grab some ice cream (see #1!) after this date, for an inexpensive treat to round out your fun date night with friends!
-
Drive an Hour Outside of the City You Live in for Lunch — Cost: $20.
You may pay a liiiiiittle bit more in gas $ for this trip, depending on how far you go but how fun would this be?! You get the benefit of feeling like you took a road trip but are only spending about 2 hours traveling, so you can be back home in time for dinner!
-
Picnic — Cost: $15-20 for food.
My favorite kind of date!! You have some freedom here, either pack up some food you already have at home or go out and get take-out and enjoy an evening of people or nature watching, depending upon where you two decided to set up camp.
-
Buy Each Other a $20 Outfit at the Thrift Store (Good or Goofy) and Then You Have to Wear Them Around the Rest of the Day — Cost: $20 for each of you.
This again is slightly over budget…but only $20/person; so I’m voting that it still counts and since this is my list, it counts! 😉 Bonus points if you take and post pictures to Instagram (also tag @briwidmer in them because I want to see what y’all find)!
-
$5 Target Date — Cost: $5 (shocking!)
I’m very excited for this date! Basically the idea here is that you each walk into Target together, $5 in hand and you each have a half hour to pick out the best thing for the other person under $5. This item can be funny/random/something they’d actually use–you can decide the parameters for this part of your date however you wish to; just as long as you keep the budget!
-
Berry Picking — Cost: U-Pick is usually $10/person.
I love this date! Curtis and I have actually done this before in the past and we had a blast! Many local farms have u-pick most days of the week and sometimes will throw little parties to get people to come and pick. It’s such a fun and cheap evening date that you could easily make into a double-date or a group hang with all of your friends!
-
Photoshoot in a Flower Field — Cost: Free!
You have a few options with this idea, either have him/her take pictures of your pretty face amongst the flowers OR “hire” a friend for the evening and shoot some sweet coupley photos you’ll treasure forever!
-
Bowling — Cost: $5/person if you go after 9 for cosmic bowling!
I never did this as a date but I used to go late-night cosmic bowling on Tuesday nights in college for $5. It was such a fun way to relax and spend some time with your crew and not break the bank by any means to have a little hang time.
-
Get All Dressed Up and Grab a Drink at a Rooftop Bar — Cost: $10/person.
Grab a drink and enjoy a little chill time with your best pal! Also, hopefully where you choose to go isn’t offering $30 drinks because that’s cray-cray if you ask me.
-
Make Up a Couple Batches of Cookies and Coffee- and Host an Apples to Apples Tournament with Friends (or another game night activity) — Cost: Coffee and Cookie Supplies…$15ish.
The most fun evening with friends!
-
Hammock Reading Date — Cost: Free!
Another fun, snuggly date to round out our little list here. Grab your eno and maybe a few snacks and cuddle up for a lovely afternoon of reading in the park.
Will you be adding any of these to your date night list this summer? Or do you have any fun, cheap dates that I missed on this list?
Let me know in the comments below!
XOXO
